Hospital Policies
At Clayton Family Veterinary Care, we are committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care for your pets in a welcoming and professional environment. To ensure the best experience for both you and your furry family members, we have outlined our hospital policies.
Please take a moment to review these guidelines, and don’t hesitate to call us at (317)218-3142 with any questions. Thank you for trusting us with your pet’s health!
Rabies Vaccine:
In compliance with Indiana State Law, any pet brought into the clinic with a past due Rabies vaccination will receive a Rabies vaccination if deemed healthy enough by DVM. You will receive a certificate and tag in ordinance with Indiana state law. This policy decreases risk and improves safety for all. After the first Rabies vaccination, the booster is due every 3 years. The Doctors will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the Rabies vaccine and potential side effects.
Urine Drop Off Policy:
When a urine sample is dropped off, it is to make a tentative, preliminary diagnosis of a possible health issue or to monitor an ongoing condition. These samples are processed by the Technicians are their earliest convenience as the schedule allows. Once this process has been completed, the Doctors will make an assessment of the results with proposed treatment. We will try our best to have results and treatment instructions to you within 24hrs. It may be recommended to bring your pet in for an appointment to do a physical exam. This helps diagnose or rule out bladder stones/infections/underlyng health conditions. A urinalysis does take the place of a physical exam in most cases to make a reliable diagnosis. Your pets health is our utmost concern.
Fear Free Experience:
The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Fear Free policy aims to reduce stress and anxiety for pets during veterinary visits. The policy includes:
- Calm environments: Creating a soothing environment with comfortable bedding, pheromone diffusers, and masking scents
- Gentle handling: Using low-stress handling techniques that minimize restraint and allow pets to explore at their own pace
- Positive reinforcement: Using treats, praise, and other rewards to encourage appropriate behavior
- Pre-visit medication: Prescribing medications to help reduce anxiety in some cases
- Considering other options: Stopping procedures if patients are struggling, and considering rescheduling or sedation
